Guys, look what I did this weekend!


I am doing some ballistic experiments trying to make the most accurate cartriges (=feshang) for my new Mauser rifle (=tofang). To do this, I loaded 12 cartridges with eaxct amounts of H4831 gun powder (=baaroot) so that each round had 0.5 grains (= 32 milligrams) more powder than the previous one. I also used a very special bullet called Scirocco:



Then, I went to the shooting range and fired these rounds at a target at 180 meters. I measured the velocity of each fired round using a digital chronograph.



Here is the graph showing the velocity of my fired rounds:



As you can see, I managed to get very uniform velocities at around 2950 ft/sec! I also got the top speed of 3050 ft/second! Wooooooooooooooooow! This is 3 times the speed of sound, or, ,as they call it in scientific terms, Mach 3 !!!

MG-42? !! What do want to do with an MG-42?!

Anyway, do you know that MG-42 was the most fearsome machine gun during the second Word War? It had a very high rate of fire (1200 rounds/ minute) and made a very special sound beacuse of this! The American and British troops had learned to be very affraid of this sound!!!

a machine gun is good in a war... but it wastes so much bullets... in hunting, all you need is "one accurate shot" but it take a lot of knowlege and practice to make that shot!

anyway, have you ever shot a rifle? You can try joining a shooting club and practice using small bore .22 caliber rifles. This is what they use in Olympic competitions:
